EAFA Gallery News

The original foursome that started this gallery at its inception in November of 2010, is still going strong, but find they are still doing most of the work. Thankfully, many of you have given of your time and we appreciate each and every one of you. Unfortunately, there are still many who have not yet volunteered in any way to help this huge endeavor be successful. We believe it is wholly appropriate to require a time commitment from all the artists who benefit from exhibiting in the EAFA Gallery. Additionally, we welcome anyone who might be willing to train in any of the gallery tasks on an ongoing basis.

It is also quite clear that an empty gallery is not conducive to sales. There were two sales during Exhibit 4, one when there was a volunteer present and another was a friend of the artist. The first week in October was a busy one at the gallery with a breakfast for 55 designers, an interactive cocktail party for 80, and mask-making and an art walk for some 80 – 100 of the public in conjunction with Arts Crush. We've had many new designers, gallery owners and some art procurers from big name corporations with all this recent activity, but there would have been no connection made whatsoever if your loyal volunteer staff had not been there.

In short, from here on out, each exhibiting artist will be required to sign up for two 4-hour shifts each exhibit period. The shifts can include take in, take down, receptions/events help, or gallery sitting. EAFA Gallery will not allow you to show your work if you do not sign up for these shifts either before each exhibit period or when you deliver your artwork.
