Facilities: Restrooms in station, street parking, nearby shops, shelter in case of rain. Directions: Drive I-90 to Exit 27. Exit and turn left under the freeway and then take a right onto North Bend Way. Turn left at Meadowbrook. At Railroad Ave SE turn left again. Park near the station. Meet for lunch at the nearby Gazebo. |

Gasworks Park, Seattle. Picturesque ruins of an old coal-gasification plant, combined with superlative views of Lake Union, I-5 and Aurora bridges, Seattle skyline, seaplanes, marine traffic, kite fliers, and passing humanity. Facilities: Ample parking, restrooms, picnic tables, shelter from rain, nearby shops and restaurants. Directions: Exit I-5 in Seattle at NE 45th St. and head east through Wallingford to Stone Way. Follow Stone Way south, crossing N. 34th St., and turn left on Northlake Way. Come to Gasworks Park in about .25 mile. Meet for lunch at the picnic shelter. |

Flower World, Maltby. A commercial nursery with beautiful landscaped grounds featuring a necklace of lakes with waterwheel, fountains, and cabin. Chickens, geese, and peacocks nearby. Facilities: Restrooms, ample parking, picnic area. Directions: From the I-405/SR-522 interchange in Bothell, drive east on SR-522 for 5.7 miles to Paradise Lake Rd. Turn left at the light and then quickly right again onto Yew Way. At the Maltby Rd. junction keep right on Yew Way and come shortly to a Y. Keep left at the Y to Join Broadway Ave. From the junction continue a little over one mile to 196th St. Turn right, then take the first right to enter the Flower World parking lot. Meet for lunch near the big pond. |

Museum of History and Industry, Seattle. Access to Montlake Cut and Bridge, wetlands, Foster Island, Union Bay, Lake Washington. Facilities: Parking, restroom in museum. Directions: Heading west across the Evergreen Point Floating Bridge, take the first Seattle exit (Lake Washington Blvd.). At the stop sign, turn right and in less than .5 mile, turn right onto E. Park Drive to the Museum. Park in the large, lower lot. Meet for lunch near the museum. |

Index. Few towns are more beautifully situated for painters than Index. Mts. Index and Persis rise abruptly to the south, Mts. Merchant and Gunn to the north. The massive granite of the Index Town Wall forms a backdrop on the west, and through the town runs the spectacular North Fork Skykomish River. Nearby are picturesque homes and other buildings, plus two cool bridges over the river. Be ready for possible wind. Facilities: Street side parking, restrooms, pub, grocery, park, riverside picnicking. Directions: From Monroe, drive 20.3 miles east on SR 2 (Stevens Pass Highway), then turn left on the Index-Galena Rd. In .9 mile turn left on 5th St, cross the Skykomish River, and park where available (but not in the store’s parking lot). For access to the river, follow the public right-of-way alongside the bridge down to the water. You can paint up and down the river or in town. Be sure to respect private property. Meet for lunch at picnic tables along river and in back of (and courtesy of) the Outdoor Adventure Center. |

Bellevue Botanical Garden, Wilburton Park, Bellevue. An oldie but goodie with a reason: formal gardens, a Japanese garden, stream and waterfall, and wilder native woods and wetlands. Facilities: parking, restroom, picnic area. Directions: From SR 520 or NE 8th St., drive 124th Ave SE to Main St. Turn right and shortly enter the park on the left. Meet for lunch near the Visitor Center. |

Bob’s Corn and Pumpkin Farm, Snohomish. A working farm with farmhouse, barn, cool equipment and other farm stuff, outbuildings, crops, cows, distant vistas, and wonderful family hospitality. Facilities: parking, restroom, picnic area. Directions: From I-405 in Bothell, exit to SR522 and drive 8 miles to the Echo Lake Road exit. Take exit right, the turn left onto Fales Rd. In 2.1 miles, turn right on Elliot Rd. Bob’s Farm is 0.5 miles on the right. Meet for lunchnear the parking area. |

Olallie State Park, North Bend. A beautiful, varied spot of riverside wildness along the Middle Fork Snoqualmie River just off I-90. Facilities: parking, pit toilet, picnicking. Directions: From eastbound I-90, take exit 38 and turn right at the stop sign. Drive 0. 5 mile to park entrance on left. |

Brackett’s Landing, Edmonds. Otherwise known as Edmonds Beach, this well-used stretch of Puget Sound waterfront, a great favorite of local divers, extends on both sides of the Edmonds-Kingston ferry terminal. The terminal itself and its ferries are great subjects, along with beach, waterside buildings, divers, beachcombers, and marine traffic. Facilities: Parking, restrooms, nearby restaurants and shops, ferry access. Directions: At the Main Street roundabout in downtown Edmonds, head on Main toward the ferry terminal. Keep in the right lane to avoid ferry traffic and at Railroad Avenue, the last street before the ferry terminal, turn right into the Brackett’s Landing parking lot. Meet for lunch near the turnaround at the end of the lot. |

Lake Joy, 11328 West Lake Joy Drive NE, Carnation. Two acres of beautiful lakefront property with trees, gardens, and views of the nearby Cascade Range just across the water—all courtesy of EAFA member Karen Heiberg and her husband Hank. Facilities: Parking, restroom, picnicking. Directions: From Carnation, head north (or from Duvall, head south) on SR 203 to the Stillwater Store. Turn steeply uphill on the Stillwater Hill Road. At each fork in the road, keep right, reaching the Heiberg house just over 4 miles from SR 203. There are two driveways onto the property. Take the second, which heads straight toward the house, and at the end turn left onto the exit driveway and park as far down the drive as you can in order to accommodate vehicles to follow. At the Maltby Rd. junction keep right on Yew Way and come shortly to a Y. Keep left at the Y to Join Broadway Ave. Follow Broadway 2.8 miles and turn right on Eliott Rd. In 1.2 miles turn left on Connelly Rd. and continue 1.2 miles to the entrance to the parking area. Meet for lunch near the parking area. |

Gold Creek Pond, Snoqualmie Pass. Spectacular mountain scenery featuring dramatic Chickamin Peak, Gold Creek Valley, Gold Creek and pond. Facilities: Parking, pit toilet. Directions: Drive Interstate 90 east to Exit 54, 2 miles east of the Snoqualmie Pass summit. Exit I-90, turn left, crossing under the freeway, then right onto a narrow paved frontage road (FR 4832). In one mile, turn left on Gold Creek Road (FR 142) and turn left in 0.3 mile into the Gold Creek Pond parking lot. Meet for lunch near the pond. |

Tolt-McDonald Park, Carnation. Two—count ‘em—two rivers, the Snoqualmie and the Tolt join in Tolt-McDonald Park. Cool suspension bridge across the Snoqualmie. Also woods, fields, farm buildings, distant mountain vistas. Facilities: Parking, restrooms, picnicking. Directions: Drive SR 203 to Carnation. On the south side of town turn on NE 40th St., shortly entering the park. Meet for lunch near the suspension bridge. |

Three Forks Park, Snoqualmie. Spectacular riverside scenery at the foot of Mt. Si, where the north and middle forks of the Snoqualmie River exit the Cascade front to join to form the main Snoqualmie. A park without facilities, and a little bit of scrambling may be necessary to get near the river. Protection from sun essential. Facilities: None; park along SE Reinig Rd. Directions: Drive I-90 to Exit 27. Exit and turn left under the freeway and then take a right onto SE North Bend Way. In 1.3 miles turn left at Meadowbrook and continue to Railroad Ave. Cross Railroad Ave. And continue on Meadowbrook to cross the Snoqualmie River. Just across the river, the road turns right and becomes SE Reinig Rd. Drive 1.4 miles to where the road approaches an open area along the river. If you come to a T- junction with 428th Ave SE, you’ve gone too far. Turn around and drive back about .25 mile. If you get lost, call Steve Whitney at 425-286-4193. |

Janicke Slough, Fall City. A beautiful oxbow lake with distant farm buildings, tucked along a back road in the Snoqualmie Valley, north of Fall City. Facilities: None; shops and restrooms in Fall City about 2. 5 miles away. Directions: From Fall City, cross the river and exit the roundabout onto SR 203, then shortly turn left on Neal Road. Drive 2. 2 miles to a dirt lane heading left to Janicke Slough. Take this lane and park wherever. Meet for lunch near the slough. |

Center for Urban Horticulture, Seattle. Something for everyone: various buildings (including an interesting perspective on Husky Stadium), formal gardens, marsh, ponds, beautiful cottonwoods and willows, and Lake Washington vistas. Follow the several looping paths to discover great painting spots. Facilities: Parking, restrooms, picnicking, shops nearby. Directions: From the Montlake Exit off SR 520, drive Montlake Blvd. North for one mile. Keep right as it swings to join NE 45th St. Stay in the right-hand lane and in .2 mile, turn right onto Mary Gates Memorial Dr. NE. In .2+ mile, turn right into the parking lot. Meet for lunch in the garden near the visitor center. |

Marymoor Park, Redmond. Clise Mansion and gardens, river, lake, fields, beautiful old trees and—oh, yes—a windmill. Lots of room to spread out. Paint anywhere. Lunch on the west side of the mansion. Facilities: Parking, restroom, picnicking. Directions: Drive SR 520 east to W. Lake Sammamish Parkway NE. Turn right onto parkway. Go about .25 mile and turn left into park. Parking fee. Nearby shops. |

Snohomish. A picturesque town along the Snohomish River with paintings in every direction. Riverside views, including an iconic RR bridge, along with numerous fine old buildings and colorful street scenes. The hardest part is deciding what to paint! Facilities: Limited parking at Cady Park. Parking along both main and side streets, but come early to find a good spot. Numerous restaurants and other shops are a short walking distance. Directions: Many roads lead to Snohomish. Consult an online mapping site or road map for the best route for you. Meet for lunch (or for painting) at Cady Park, at the foot of Maple Ave. |

Jubilee Farm, Fall City. A lovely old barn, outbuildings, farm stuff, fields and fences, and the nearby Snoqualmie River, which is hidden in its winding screen of trees. Facilities: Parking, restroom, picnicking, shelter in case of rain. Directions: From SR 520 in Redmond, drive the Redmond-Fall City Road east for just about 14 miles and bear left on SE 31st St. Follow the road (with name changes) for 1 mile and turn left on W. Snoqualmie River Rd. Follow W. Snoqualmie River Rd. for two miles to Jubilee Farm on the right. Meet for lunch in the shady lawn area in front of the barn. |
