Invitation

The 2011 Open Abstract Show, presented by the Eastside Association of Fine Arts (EAFA), is open to is open to all artists who meet the conditions and deadlines in this prospectus. Abstract art will be defined as either non-representational, or artwork that is a literal abstraction; that is, the modifying of an actual object in form, shape, or color so that it becomes a part of the design rather than a literal depiction of the object itself.

Eligibility and Conditions

  • Invitation is open to all artists who meet the conditions and deadlines in this prospectus.
  • Entries must be original 2-dimensional paintings, drawings, collages, original prints, digital art, photographs or 3-dimensional sculptures/constructions.
  • Entries must be priced to sell and remain on display for the duration of the exhibition.
  • All artwork must have been created within the last two years, be priced to sell, and remain on display for the duration of the show unless sold.
  • Work with substantial input from another artist or teacher, work copied from a copyrighted or published source is not acceptable, and will cause forfeiture of awards and display privileges.
  • All art must be dry, finished, and ready to display.
  • All 2-D art must be ready to hang with wire attached. No exposed glass edges, uni-frames, clip frames, frames in disrepair, saw tooth hangers, exposed staples and unfinished edges.
  • 3-D art can be table top or free standing of any size. If table top, 3D artists must provide a pedestal & secure the piece.
  • All 2-D art must be at least 8” x 8” not including framing. Outer dimensions must not exceed 84” (7 feet) in either direction including frame.
  • Artists with work that is bulky, heavy, or have special hanging/installation requirements must be available to assist with the installation of their art.
  • Artists agree that artwork can be taken out “on approval” for a three day period.

EAFA will collect a 25% sales commission on all art sales from the time of entry and up to two weeks after the show closes.

NOTE: If accepted, only one entry per artist will be selected for display.

Responsibilities

  • Artists are responsible for the delivery and pickup of selected artwork at the times and places listed.
  • Late retrieval of artwork after 12 noon on February 25th, 2012 will incur a storage fee of $20, payable by the artist to EAFA, unless other arrangements are made.
  • EAFA will take responsible precautions for the care, safety, and security of all artwork, but the artist assumes all liability.

Rights Reserved

  • EAFA reserves the right to refuse any work that differs from the image submitted by the artist, or which is deemed inappropriate for display at this venue.
  • EAFA reserves the right to create digital images of all submitted artwork and to use those images for EAFA exhibition publicity and for archival and historical purposes.

Notification

Notification of entry status will be mailed on or before December 16, 2011.
