Featured Volunteer - August 2011

Linda Allan

Everybody knows Linda’s smile and cheerful greeting when they attend an EAFA meeting. For the past two years, Linda has prepared name tags, inserted them in the plastic holders, filed them and brought them to each meeting. Now, however, the procedure has changed: sticky labels will be available for members to write their name on and attach to their outfit. This, therefore, is a farewell to Linda as our Greeter. She values her association with EAFA, however, and will continue to Volunteer, as time allows, probably as helper in some other area.

Did you know that she and her husband operate a leather repair business? They learned the skill in Germany where they lived before returning to the United States, so that their children could have an American education.

As an artist, she is basically self-taught, although she has taken some lessons at Arts Umbrella. She has developed a technique of using thick pastes of acrylic that she applies, calling the work ‘sculpture on canvas’. Flowers are one of her favorite subjects and recently she was invited to show some of her work at a gallery in Snohomish.

Now that she has a studio in Bothell, large enough to accommodate more than one, she would welcome a member who would like to share the space.

As she leaves the role as Greeter, Linda intends to get to know more EAFA members and arrange occasional painting sessions with other artists.
