At our October meeting, at the same time as the Artist Rummage Sale, you will get to see demos in oils, watercolor and pastels from three of our very well known member artists. All three are multiple award winning artists, have been published, are known and collected nationally and are represented in multiple galleries across the country. During our annual artist's garage sale, you will see: Suze Woolf paint with watercolors, Barbara Newton with pastel, and Arlon Rosenoff with oils. Their art is featured on this special page.
NOTE: There will be no painting contest this month due to the Artist Rummage Sale!
Arlon Rosenoff
Arlon started painting seriously later in life - he is largely self-taught. Painting has changed the way he experiences and appreciates life. He attended the Spokane Art School and Spokane College for painting, drawing and sculpture. Arlon paints with a palette knife because it gives him the opportunity to interact with paint in a very tactile, expressionistic way. The surfaces of his paintings are very telling, sometimes resembling a mosaic of palette knife strokes. His paintings are shown in galleries in five different states and his storefront studio which is open daily, is located at 728 Market St., Kirkland in Kirkland. http://www.ArlonRosenoff.com
Barbara Newton
Barbara Newton studied at the Art Institute of Seattle and began her career as a fashion illustrator before moving on to fine art. She worked exclusively in colored pencil for more than a decade, becoming one of the masters of the medium. A change of mediums (to pastel) and subjects in 2002 moved her from a precise, timeconsuming, transparent medium to spontaneous, fastpaced, opaque soft pastel that has been a journey of discovery. She departed from her trademark light-filled still life subjects to impressionistic landscape scenes. She participates in exhibitions nationwide and her work is collected across the U.S. http://www.Barbaranewton.net
Suze Woolf
Suze Woolf, who recently received her signature status with the National Watercolor Society, has been drawing all her life. Her professional career has included graphic design of printed materials and interface designs for commercial and prototype software. Most recently, she has devoted herself to the watercolor medium, consistently winning awards. Suze feels she has met her goal when she transports the viewer into the world of the painting while letting the viewer remain aware that her hand wielded the brush. Suze has been a juror and a workshop instructor. Her colorful paintings can be seen across the U.S. and Canada and have appeared in many publications. http://www.suzewoolf-fineart.com
