Featured Volunteer:
March 2010
Lee Evan Belfiglio

Quietly behind the scenes, Lee documents all of EAFA’s activities. These include securing a copy of each month’s newsletter, plus records of all the receptions, exhibits, awards and clippings from local magazines, newspapers relating to EAFA. Her interest and education in art started when her parents took her, as a child, to art museums and shows - a good education. Later, during an active musical career, Lee served as a violist with the BCC String orchestra, as well as with the Seattle Symphony and in St. Thomas Episcopal church. All the time, she longed to become an artist. Add the activities of a family as well as her career, she had little opportunity to engage in the visual arts.

Now, as an empty-nester, she satisfies that desire and worked originally in acrylics and watercolor. Recently she has ventured into experimenting with pastels. When I asked her what she does for fun, she answered that she and her attorney husband play their violas together. Also, the entire family are amateur oenophiles. Her two young adult sons plan careers in computer ‘something’ and the younger son is eyeing the global wine market as well. In concluding our chat, Lee told me how much she loves being a member of EAFA. The other members continually inspire her and, at each contact, she learns more.

"They are good teacher," she said. I added that that is one of our primary goals. You can see an example of her work at the Movers and Shakers Show at Kaewyn Gallery until March 15th.
