Dear Fellow Members and Artists, We are wrapping up another season of great EAFA programs, exhibitions and friendship. Before we head into summer, the important business includes the election of new Officers and approval of the budget for the coming year prepared by our able and willing Joe MacKechnie. Also, dogged in their pursuit of good candidates for office, Nominating Committee Lyla Jacobsen and Ted Pankowski have provided a roster of candidates in this newsletter for your consideration. Some Board members are signing up for another year and others have stepped up to the plate for perhaps the first time. Please peruse these documents and come prepared to vote at our Annual Membership meeting , Thursday, May 15. To tide us over until fall, Adrienne Anderson Smith and Georgianne Arnot have the Members’ Show in full swing with the Reception and Awards Ceremony, Saturday, May 31 from 2 – 5pm. I’m looking forward to seeing yet more of your work at Trilogy. By the time that show ends, our plein air specialist, Jim Adkins, will have started his schedule of weekly Tuesday plein air sessions culminating in a Plein Air show at ORSCC in September. So bring your family and friends with you to these special activities this summer. They will truly enjoy them as well as your company. Finally, since this is the last newsletter until August I thought I would take a little extra space for a special note! What do tags, grids, letters, coffee, art hanging, speakers, money and microphones have in common? It’s the people behind them, putting it all together to make EAFA run smoothly and efficiently. Yes, it’s our wonderful Board members who provide the impetus and leadership year round. And I want to thank each and everyone of you for your fervor and zeal and the hours you spend in this labor of love we call EAFA. Each of you has given me the support I need to carry out my job by carrying out your own responsibilities to the fullest. We start a new season with programs and exhibitions, ironing out details, passing motions, and determining the who, what, why, where and how to meet our primary mission of educating, promoting, and encouraging our members and the public in the appreciation of art. I’d say you’ve done a yeoman’s job spreading that mission. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart! Your Intrepid Leader, Charlette Haugen
