Pia Messina received a Stu-Art Award from the Montana Watercolor Society and an Award of Merit at the Arizona Watercolor Association Spring Show. Last year she won the NWWS Award of Merit at the EAFA Members’ Show at Trilogy. Congratulations, Pia!
And congratulations also to Julie Creighton who will have a solo exhibition at Kaewyn Gallery, 10101 Main Street, Bothell. The show opens August 1 and runs for the entire month. Julie also received her signature membership in the Northwest Watercolor Society’s 2008 Open Exhibition which closed at the end of April. Again, very well done!

Dan Riley and Joe MacKechnie will be teaching their widely acclaimed Creative Portrait Drawing and Painting workshop again on May 16, 17, 18 (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). Cost of the 3-day workshop is $240 per person. The class includes basic instruction on proportions and drawing, creative approaches to portraits that sell, and many other aspects including anatomy and the range of facial expressions. The City of Woodinville had a Community Art Show in which Ken Sharp was awarded his division's 1st Place. Georgianne Arnot was awarded 2nd for her oil, Girl on White Wicker. The first place winners in each age division had their art showcased at City Hall March 29 and 30.
