EAFA Plein Air Schedule, Summer 2008

All eafa members are invited to participate in the Plein Air trips that are scheduled. We will be meeting at the following locations on Tuesdays commencing mid-May, continuing in June, July, through August. Bring a sack lunch, water, and your painting paraphernalia. We will begin at 9:30 am or as early as you care to and at noon, we will gather for lunch and critique of the day's output (strictly optional). Gathering location is not always known at time of printing; gather under the leader's banner.

Exhibition of eafa Plein Air Painters Program

To promote the eafa Plein Air Painters program, output of summer 2007 schedule may be exhibited at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center (ORSCC) September 5-October 31. Exhibition will be open to all members who have participated in the 2008 summer schedule. Members unable to paint on Tuesday mornings may paint at any scheduled site on weekends or any other time. Paintings executed in any other season or any other location will not be eligible. Deliver paintings to ORSCC on Sept. 5, 10-11am. Requirements for hanging are same as for other eafa exhibitions. On back of painting, include your name, contact information, title, medium, and price. Entries will be juried by committee of the eafa board.

MAY 20 Juanita Bay Park, Kirkland

From Hwy 520, take I-405 N to the 116th St exit. Go west under the freeway and continue straight. Turn left onto 98th Ave NE. The park entrance is about a half mile further, on the right hand side of the road. If the parking lot is full, there is another on the other side of the road.

Flower World, Snohomish. Snohomish. (1-360-668-9575). From Hwy 520, take I-405 north for 8.5 miles. At exit 23, merge onto WA 522 toward US Hwy 2-Woodinville-Wenatchee for 5.7 miles. Turn left on Paradise Lake Rd (Hwy 524). Follow WA 524 into Yew Way, then Broadway Ave. Turn right at 196th St SE for 0.1 mile.
JUNE 3 Volunteer Park, Seattle
1247 – 15th Ave E.
From 520 East, take the Roanoke Street exit. At the end of the exit turn right onto Roanoke Street. Go to 10th Avenue E and turn right. Drive several blocks on 10th Avenue E and turn left onto E Prospect Street (directional sign "Seattle Asian Art Museum"). At 14th Avenue E, turn left into the park. Meet in the parking lot in front of the Seattle Asian Art Museum.
  10 Bothell Landing, Bothell

Start out going north on I-405 N to Bothell/Hwy 522 exit. Follow Hwy 522 to intersection of 522 and Bothell-Everett Hwy. The Park is on your left, BUT, continue to the next light, just beyond McDonald's, and turn left. We will meet on the right side of the foot bridge where there is parking and restrooms.

Start out going west on WA-520 W. Take the I-5 N/ Roanoke exit toward Vancouver BC. Take the Roanoke St/ Harvard Ave exit. Turn slight right onto Harvard Ave E. Turn slight right onto Eastlake Ave E. Take the NE 40th St westbound ramp. Turn slight right onto Lincoln Way. Lincoln Way becomes NE 40th St. Turn sharp left to stay on NE 40th St. Turn left onto 6th Ave NE. 6th Ave NE becomes NE Northlake Way. Ample parking is across street from Ivar's.

Start out going east on WA-520E WA-520E becomes Avondale Rd Ext. which then becomes Avondale Rd NE. Turn slight right onto NE Novelty Hill Rd. After 4.7 miles, turn right onto W. Snoqualmie Valley Rd NE. After 2.4 miles, turn slight left onto NE 80th St. Turn left onto Ames Lake Carnation Rd NE. Ames Lake Carnation Rd NE becomes NE Carnation Farm Rd. When you see the cow statue on the right, you have arrived. Parking is inside the gate (at the flagpole). All participants must sign in at the office.
JULY
01 Seattle Yacht Club & West Montlake Park
E. Hamlin Street & W. Park Drive. E.
Start out going west on WA-520W. Take the first Seattle exit (Lake Washington Blvd. S). At the stop sign, turn right onto Lake Washington Blvd. S, continue in zig-zag manner to traffic signal at Montlake Bldv. Turn right, pass over the freeway, get into left lane, marked as U-turn. Instead of making U-turn, turn left onto E Hamlin St. The yacht club has a parking lot on the left, or on-street parking is usually available on W Park Drive E. We have permission to use toilet facilities of the Seattle Yacht Club.
  08 Emerald Downs, Auburn

Start out going south on I-405 S. Merge onto WA-167 S via Exit toward Kent/Auburn. After 10.8 miles, take the 15th St NW exit. Turn left onto 15th St NW. After 0.5 miles, turn left onto Emerald Downs Dr. We will gather in the neighborhood of the horse barns..
  15 Farrel-McWhirter Park, Redmond
195 NE Redmond Road.
Hwy 520 east towards Redmond. 520 becomes Avondale Rd. Exit onto Avondale Rd NE. At about 0.4 of a mile, turn a slight right onto NE Novelty Rd. Then turn left onto NE Redmond Rd. This will become NE 102nd Place which then becomes NE 108 Place. The park will be on your left. If you go to NE 108th Place, you have gone too far. We will meet in the parking lot.
  22 Washington Park Arboretum, Seattle

From I-5, take exit 168-B (Bellevue-Kirkland) onto Hwy 520. Immediately take the first exit (Montlake Blvd.) from 520. From the exit ramp, go straight across Montlake Blvd. onto E Lake Washington Blvd. and follow it into the Arboretum.
From 520 West (Evergreen Point Floating Bridge), take the first Seattle exit (Lake Washington Blvd. S). At the stop sign, turn left into the Arboretum. Meet at the visitors center located near north end of the Arboretum Drive E, the “upper” (eastern) Arboretum road. To reach it, turn left at the “Y” in the road as you enter the Arboretum, then right onto Arboretum Drive E.

Renton Ave. S & 55th Ave. S.
On I-5, exit at Pacific Highway South/East Marginal Way, Exit 158.Turn left toward Martin Luther King, Jr. Way; continue up the hill on Ryan Way. Turn left on 51st Avenue South. Turn right on Renton Avenue South. Turn right on 55th Avenue South to parking lot.
AUGUST 05 Downtown Snohomish
40 Maple Ave. (Cady Park)
Start out going north on I-405 N. Merge onto WA-522 E via Exit 23 toward US-2/Woodinville/Wenatchee. Take the WA-9 N exit toward Snohomish/Arlington; turn left onto WA-9. After 9.5 miles, take the ramp toward Snohomish. Keep right at the fork to go on 2nd St. Turn slight right onto 1st St. Turn right onto Maple Ave. You may fan out over downtown to paint – let's gather at Cady Park.
  12 Gas Works Park, Seattle
2101 N. Northlake Way
From the eastside, take Hwy 520 to Montlake exit. Continue north across the Montlake Bridge. Turn left onto NE Pacific St and onto Northlake Way under the Roosevelt Bridge. Keep going. The park is on the left. There are sheltered areas.
  19 Bellevue Botanical Garden at WilburtonPark, Bellevue
12001 Main St.
Take I-405 either north or south to the NE 8th St exit in Bellevue. Go east on NE 8th St. Turn right (south) onto 124th Ave NE. It makes a sharp right and becomes Main St. The Garden entrance will be on the left side at the top of the hill. Meet near the entrance to the gift shop within the garden. There is a sheltered area.
  26 Country Village, Bothell
720 - 238th St.
Start out going north on I-405 N. Take the WA-527 S exit, Exit 26, toward Bothell.
Turn left onto Bothell Everett Hwy/ WA-527. Turn right onto 238th St SE.
